How Markets Develop

This video reviews some common issues of business growth and sets them into the context of how larger organisations operate in the market place, and what opportunities and dangers come from collaborating with organisations that are seeking to grow rapidly to become the main player – the Gorilla if you will – in a market.

It draws on the ideas of Geoffrey Moore who wrote “Crossing the Chasm” and “Inside the Tornado” but it’s mainly based on my own experiences of starting up and running 4 businesses since 1981 supplemented by some of the research I’ve carried out into small business and the online world while creating content for business support agencies, corporates, and more recently while teaching entrepreneurial marketing at the business schools in Southampton and Toulouse.

One of the issues we deal with in the Entrepreneurial Marketing Course is the problem of scalability. What do you need to do to move from and entrepreneurial approach to a more managerial, structured method of doing business. This video has quite a lot to say about this and reviews and suggests remedies for some of the blockages you may come across along the way.
